PeerTube, Mastodon, Surveillance Report, & Patreon Updates!
Exciting updates for the Techlore Community!
Let’s keep this (semi) quick to save everyone time:
New PeerTube Instance & Autosync
We’ve received questions from you regarding why PeerTube falls behind other video platforms. Frankly, because it’s a pain to manage given our circumstances. To resolve this issue, we’ve migrated to a new instance that:
Is far more up-to-date with its version of PeerTube
Has new features, including an automatic YouTube sync
Is closer to our target audience & demographic
I’ve imported some of our highlight content from our YouTube, but it’s not a complete mirror. With that said, all new content should be 1:1 from YouTube. Thank you everyone for working with the delays on this!
★ Join our new instance on TILvids
(I want to thank Nick from The Linux Experiment for putting me in contact with the instance admin, Kelly - and especially Kelly for getting us set up.)
Mastodon
For those who missed our PSAs, we have officially decided to post Mastodon-first, which will then be cross-posted to Twitter. This means our time and attention is almost entirely going to Mastodon.

Surveillance Report Mishap
To re-clarify, Surveillance Report is a co-project between The New Oil & Techlore. Unfortunately, during the process of migrating SR’s audio hosting to Substack, it is now appearing in the Techlore Dispatch home feed. I was under the impression an unlisted podcast would remain hidden from the homepage, so I could host things in the same publication while retaining the SR/Techlore separation. This issue will be resolved within the next couple weeks as I wait for RSS directories to redirect to the new SR-only publication, when I will then delete the podcast from Techlore Dispatch.
If this is confusing: Just ignore anything SR-related on Techlore Dispatch as it shouldn’t be there.
Thanks for working with the error as I get it fixed!
Patreon
If you’re not already supporting us on Patreon, I have one more reason I think you should (though of course I’m biased :P)
I am now hosting a monthly Q&A the middle of each month. The next Q&A will take place about a week from now - so don’t miss it! You can ask me/my team anything you want, and we’ll get back to it. (Obviously within reason) From privacy recommendations, to personal questions, or anything else. Aside from the Q&A, there are many other perks available to different tiers, including:
Access to a private supporters-only Signal group with myself and my team
Sneak previews for the content we’re working on
Your name in our video outros
You’re supporting our totally free content, communities, and resources for the world! (And part of your contribution goes towards many other awesome initiatives!)

That is all! Thank you all for being subscribed to our dispatch - and stay safe out there. Again:
